In the big cities of Hawaii and the USA, more than 10000 hotel workers are on strike. As it is a long weekend due to the national holiday of Labour Day, hotel workers in cities like San Francisco, Seattle, Kauai and many more have initiated a Labour Day weekend strike. Workers from Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton are also a part of the strike for negotiation.

According to them the reason behind their strike is that they feel that the hotels are taking advantage. As per them, they are working hard for the hotel and at the same time the salary they are getting is not enough to live a good life and raise their kids. They have to do a second job to support their family and kids. They are demanding a raise in their salary so that they can manage to support their family and live a good life.

Hotel workers are saying that they will no longer work harder in their jobs if they don’t get enough salary for their work. They are doing their best in their field and still not getting enough of what they deserve.

What are their views? According to the hotel workers, they want their one job to be enough to support the basic living conditions of their families. But they are not sure whether due to increasing inflation in everything and with this pay rate, how long could they be able to pay their rent, health expenditures, child-rearing costs and many more.

They also added that the hotel wants them to give high-class services to the customers even when they are getting low-class service pay.

Even the Hyatt is willing to negotiate, UNITE HERE still started the strike and due to this Hyatt’s association is disappointed by them, as per sources.

The union behind this strike is- UNITE HERE, which demands negotiation regarding pay for hotel workers in many cities in Canada and the USA.
